Who We Are

System Optimization and Support is an engineering and consulting company based in Honolulu, HI. Our primary focus is to ease the procurement, installation, and optimization of technology services for its customers, and to support them once the implementation process is complete. SOS Hawaii partners with the following companies: Pure Storage,  Dell, IBM, VMWare, Microsoft, Citrix, Symantec, Juniper, Palo Alto, Blue Coat, Charismathics, and many others. SOS sells these products in Hawaii and on the West Coast of the United States to commercial, state and local, and federal markets.

SOS consults on technology decisions ranging from the hardware procurement of Servers (Blades), Storage systems (All Flash and Hybrid SAN, NAS, and ISCSI/FC), Virtualization Software (Microsoft-Hyper-V, VMWare, Citrix), Network Infrastructure (Juniper, Brocade and HP Networking), Security Products (Palo Alto, Bluecoat, Beyondtrust, Juniper SRX), Back-up and Disaster Recovery from our cloud at Switch to the implementation and integration of these technologies into new and existing infrastructures once purchased. Services provided center around the technologies above and to the support of these technologies after the initial implementation.

SOS brings more than 35 years of Information Technology experience to the table. Its current focus is on the commercial market where SOS has been a successful start-up since 10/2009. SOS’s customers are some of the largest corporations in Hawaii all who are referenceable and willing to provide glowing endorsements of its business practices. SOS has secured contracts for high level cleared work and is the process of becoming a cleared facility. In summary, SOS puts the “value” in Value Added Reseller.

Leadership

  • Curtis K. Oguma

    President & Sr. Solutions Architect

    Mr. Oguma has over 25 years experience in the Hawaii IT marketplace. He is a Hewlett- Packard Company retiree and spent his entire career based in Hawaii. Because of his longevity and reputation in the Hawaiian IT market, System Optimization and Support has experienced -outstanding growth- during its first year of operation. Mr. Oguma's experience in the Enterprise IT market enables System Optimization and Support to differentiate itself from other Value Added Resellers in the Hawaiian IT marketplace, as his level of knowledge and available skill set are only provided by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) Support Staff. Rarely is such knowledge available from a Value Added Resellers.

    Mr. Oguma has extensive experience with Enterprise IT computing to include:

    - Enterprise Storage Area Networks, to include Fibre Channel, iSCSI and Network Attached Storage
    - Virtualization, to include VMware and Microsoft HyperV
    - Backup, to include Data De-duplication, Disaster Recovery and Enterprise Backup Applications

  • Thomas Matthews

    VP & Director of Sales

    Mr. Matthews is a graduate of the University of Florida holding a degree in Journalism and a minor in Business Administration. He has over 15 years of experience in the Hawaiian IT market as an Account Manager, always meeting or exceeding his sales quota. His years of experience have garnered him a long list of contacts and loyal customers. He has parlayed this customer rapport into a partnership with Mr. Oguma and created System Optimization & Support, Ltd in an ongoing effort to deliver quality of levels unmatched in the current marketplace. Mr. Matthews holds IT Certifications in the following: Pure Storage sales expert; HP sales expert; Cisco sales expert; VMware sales expert and Symantec sales expert.

    His sales experience includes but is not limited to the following:
